Eric P. Chiang, Distinguished Professor

Featured Faculty, Eric P Chiang

Eric P. Chiang

Eric came to FAU in 2003, and has published 18 peer-reviewed publications in the areas of intellectual property, health care, and technology transfer. Of notable significance is that 8 of these publications were co-authored with graduate students, which is part of Eric’s ambition to seek out talent among our students and to collaborate with them on ideas that can lead to published work.

Eric has taught 12 different courses at 4 FAU campuses, and has won numerous accolades including the 2008-09 FAU Distinguished Teacher of the Year, 2009 Stewart Distinguished Professorship, 2009 TIAA-CREF University Faculty Service Award, 2010 Faculty Honors Fellow, and the 2011 Faculty Talon Leadership Award.

Currently, Eric is the graduate director of the Masters Program in Economics and advises its 68 students, serves as Chair of the Master Teacher Committee, as Faculty Advisor to the FAU Surf Club, Skim Board Club, and Ultimate Frisbee Club, serves on the College P&T Committee, MBA Committee, Graduate Council, and takes 35 FAU students each year to Costa Rica on an International Field Experience.

In his spare time, Eric is writing an Economics textbook to be published in 2013, and has just ran his 2nd marathon this past Sunday.
