Asheville is a wine lover’s paradise. From restaurants with nationally recognized wine selections to the winery at Biltmore Estate, there are endless opportunities to explore fine wines through wine tastings, winery tours and wine shops. Most of Asheville’s wine shops offer tastings, seminars and classes to help you learn more about wines from all over the world as well as wines from North Carolina’s own award-winning vineyards.

- Want to know what happens between the vine and the glass? Visit Biltmore Winery, the most visited winery in the U.S., and see how wine is made. The estate produces Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Chardonnay, Chardonnay Sur Lies, Pinot Grigio, Riesling, Chenin Blanc, Zinfandel Blanc de Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot from grapes grown on the estate and in California’s Napa Valley. The estate offers tours of the production facilities and free tastings.
- Santé (located downtown in the Grove Arcade) is a European style wine bar featuring wines by the glass and by the bottle with wine flights and light fare including cheese boards, dips, salads and sweets.
- Asheville Wine Market offers a wide selection of wines from around the world, as well as imported and microbrew beers and wine accessories. They also feature monthly red and white wine samplers, gourmet foods and free Saturday tastings.
- Weinhaus features European, Australian and New World wines, a large selection of microbrew beers, and wine tastings.
- Earth Fare offers a selection of organic and sulfite-free wines.
- Greenlife specializes in natural and organic wines along with microbrew beer and unique wines from all over the globe.
- Grove Corner Market (located in the Grove Arcade) offers a carefully selected variety of wines along with gourmet foods.
- Vino Vino Boutique Wines (located at 457 Merrimon Ave # 101) is Asheville’s newest wine shop. They specialize in boutique wines and also feature wine tastings, specialty chocolates, international foods, gourmet cheeses and meats, and imported beers.
- The Wine Guy has two Asheville locations featuring Old World and New World wines including a selection of limited-production boutique wines from family-owned vineyards the Burgundy region of France. They offer wine classes, tastings and wine dinners in conjunction with area restaurants.
